Description
Revelation is not handed down. It is born.
Birthing Fire from the Deep is about revelation as an act of labor: the truth that does not arrive gently but is born — through pressure, heat, and the willingness to let the old form break. Revelation, in this telling, is not information handed down but fire brought up — an unveiling that costs something and changes everything it touches.
The first volume of the ReBirth telling opens the Mirror Earth Birth cycle where every birth opens: at the breaking of the old form. The cycle is issued in tellings addressed to distinct traditions; this one speaks the language of Scripture. Its five chapters address a soul that has come to prefer sleep to its calling, and ask first for honesty.
The Sweetness of Delay names the soft consolations that keep a heart waiting. The Comfort of Many Voices listens past the chorus of reasonable advice for the one Voice that asks for everything. The Cross I Did Not Want counts the cost the comfortable sermon leaves out: ye are not your own. Two Sons, Two Responses returns to the parable of the son who refused and then went, and the son who agreed and never moved. Heaven Rules uncovers the last barrier: the small throne in the heart that calls its self-rule freedom.
Lines of verse are woven into the prose, each chapter closes on a rhymed couplet, and the last returns to the apostles' question before the Sanhedrin: shall we listen to God or men? The fire here is the fire of revelation, not of judgment; it comes not to incinerate the small throne but to illuminate it.
This is a book for readers in the midst of their own contractions — who suspect that what feels like breakdown may in fact be delivery, and who are ready to stop resisting the fire and let it do the work only fire can do: to bring the hidden thing to birth.
Written from the eastern rift of Kīlauea, where the earth is still being born, it ends at the threshold of the second volume, Deep Calling unto Deep Birth, where the deep begins to call.
